This fleece is from a breed of sheep called a Black Welsh Mountain. It has a lovely long staple with shades of grey, brown and auburn, which is really quite attractive. It certainly has a more rustic look to it as it has a rougher texture wool which we love the look of. Saying that it is still reasonably soft although I would say its best suited as a floor rug, perfect in front of a fire. The backing is a brown and durable and the rug is on the smaller side so perfect if you have a cosy house. We sourced this fleece from a little farm in the middle of Dartmoor National park.
This fleece was handmade with with love at our small farm in Devon.
Size: 90 X 80cm
If you really need to wash your Felted sheepskin you can pop it in the washing machine on a gentle wool cycle. Use a small amount of wool detergent. Alternatively you could soak it in a bath of warm water – then let it drip dry.
Stretch the rug out firmly when it is still damp. Let the fleece dry naturally in the sun – this may take a few days.
Each of our rugs are unique and need treating slightly differently – we will send you an individual care card with your rug.
