Another gorgeous fleece courtesy of the Forever Flock. This fleece is an Icelandic X Shetland which means not only does it have a lovely long staple but it is also deep and very soft. The colour is gentle shades of grey and whilst the staple is mostly straight is does have quite a dense, spongey, curly middle. Whats really unusual about this fleece is that the tail is attached – usually the tail doesn’t stay joined to the main body of the fleece when shorn but for some reason this one did and we think its a charming addition! Also we know we made Onyx fleece last year too! ….Thats the joy of a Felted Sheepskin! Onyx is a very unusual breed of ewe, she’s a shetland/manx cross, usually that cross take on the rich brown of the manx breed. However, Oxyx is a rare beautiful grey. Apparently nothing get’s past this sheep, she is a ewe that watches your every move, always first in line ready to move to fresh pasture!
The backing is a natural grey felt and is really durable and strong. This rug is squarish in shape would be suitable for the floor or a sofa and will look great anywhere.
This fleece came from ‘The Forever Flock‘ where nature and biodiversity are a top priority – these sheep are kept for their wool, so are saved from the food chain. If you would like to find out more about ‘The Forever Flock’ and their farming ethos head over to our blog!
