Forever Flock – Silver

£265.00

This fleece has a really thick, heavy texture. The colour is a kind of creamy, silvery white. The staple is very long and wavy, its a substantial rug. The backing is a strong grey felt and we would recommend this as a floor rug. This fleece was turned into a Felted Sheepskin with love at our small farm in Devon.

‘Silver is a very happy laid-back character.  She’s 5 years old and this year had two lambs, Sapphire and Steel. She has one of the thickest fleeces of any of our ewes and one that changes colour throughout the year. In the winter it’s a dark charcoal grey and in the spring and summer it has more silver tones.

The change is due to the amount of copper available in the soil and so plants she eats. Wetter weather means more copper in the winter months resulting in a darker fleece.’

This fleece came from ‘The Forever Flock‘ where nature and biodiversity are a top priority – these sheep are kept for their wool, so are saved from the food chain. If you would like to find out more about ‘The Forever Flock’ and their farming ethos head over to our blog!

Aftercare

If you really need to wash your Felted sheepskin you can pop it in the washing machine on a gentle wool cycle. Use a small amount of wool detergent. Alternatively you could soak it in a bath of warm water – then let it drip dry.

Stretch the rug out firmly when it is still damp. Let the fleece dry naturally in the sun – this may take a few days.

Each of our rugs are unique and need treating slightly differently – we will send you an individual care card with your rug.
