Forever Flock – Starling

£225.00

Starlings fleece is all shades of grey but overall is quite light in appearance. The staple is very soft, long and mostly straight. The rug is weighty and substantial with a good depth to it. The backing is a very strong, grey, firm felt and would be idea on a floor or on a sofa to cuddle into. This Felted Sheepskin is absolutely lovely with a beautiful lustre and very pleasing to look at. This fleece was turned into Felted Sheepskin with love at our small farm in Devon.

‘Starling is a very friendly trusting individual, as you can see from the photo she has the most unusual face markings. In all our years of farming we’ve not seen anyone else patterned like her. Not only does Starling have a spotting face , she has blacks spots in her ears, on her tongue and even on the roof of her mouth!
This year she gave birth to a single snow white lamb with one single golden spot on her back so we named the lamb Star.’

This fleece came from ‘The Forever Flock’ where nature and biodiversity are a top priority – these sheep are kept for their wool, so are saved from the food chain. If you would like to find out more about ‘The Forever Flock’ and their farming ethos head over to our blog!

Aftercare

If you really need to wash your Felted sheepskin you can pop it in the washing machine on a gentle wool cycle. Use a small amount of wool detergent. Alternatively you could soak it in a bath of warm water – then let it drip dry.

Stretch the rug out firmly when it is still damp. Let the fleece dry naturally in the sun – this may take a few days.

Each of our rugs are unique and need treating slightly differently – we will send you an individual care card with your rug.
